Come See My works at the BACA ART show 10/10/25-10/12/25
My introduction to LInocuts

I have been truly lucky throughout my life to meet and know so many great artists, from my Papa to my father’s best friends. I believe creating art can teach us many lessons about ourselves, the world, and
beyond.
With the rise of AI and creative editing software, I believe the proliferation of AI art only deepens the need to explore ways of creating that let our humanity come to the forefront.
The medium I have chosen for this initial series is linocut printing. Linocuts, along with other
printmaking techniques, were used to democratize art during the New Deal’s WPA. I have always
admired linocuts from WPA artists, and after seeing an exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art, they had been at the forefront of my mind.
Three Pieces, Three Concepts
With that said, I present to you three pieces, each with a different form of concept:
1. Self-Portrait #1 Sketched from reference, but not to perfection — rather to the feelings of
humanity.
2. Three Wise Men Started from a series of autonomous sketches, where I gave myself bounds to
make marks and allow my subconscious to take control and express.
3. Adrift Came from a series of autonomous sketches where I would listen to a musical piece and
allow myself to enter a trance-like state. Attempting to capture emotion with an emphasis on rhythm
and motion, I would make marks through the entirety of the piece, starting on a new page every time
the piece started over.
Process
I took these initial sketches and refined the compositions. I then transferred the refined images to
linoleum blocks, carved out the images, and rolled on ink.
Using a homemade press and spoon, I transferred those images to create the prints you see before you.
There will be total of 7 different prints in this initial series.
